The storming of the Bastille prison happened in 1789 in Paris, France. The people of Paris were unhappy with what King Louis XIV was doing and needed gunpowder for guns they had stolen earlier that day. The Bastille prison was full of gunpowder, ammunition, and even more weapons, so naturally these now rioters wanted access to it. So, on July 14th, they stormed up to the Bastille and demanded they give them what they wanted.
The request was not honored, and after some commotion they got into the Bastille prison and took all the ammunition and gunpowder, and killed the leader. The Bastille was a prison, but it actually only had 7 prisoners in it!
The storming of the Bastille was a big deal because it was a turning point in the French Revolution. For more information please visit our website, bastilleprison.com
